This spring, TGV are launching two new 6-month-long programs — Story Hub and Inspire!
STORY HUB
A storytelling workshop series where you will learn how to shape personal narratives in a variety of short forms, with audio, visual and textual components. Narratives may take the form of short stories, poems, digital stories (with video or images from personal collections) or art work, with accompanying artist’s statement.
With facilitation led by TGV staff, a basic kit of creative materials including a work book of story prompts will be supplied to every participant. You’ll be set creative challenges to complete in the workshop and in between sessions, and there will be opportunity to share work in progress at every session.
Workshops will take place once per month for 2-3 hours, over a period of 6 months. You can attend either face-to-face or virtually.
The last 2 sessions will focus on finalising stories or creative works for TDOV 2025, when we will invite audiences of peers, friends and allies to an exhibition, virtual gallery and performance event hosted by TGV.
INSPIRE
Are you gender-diverse and under 21? Inspire will be TGV’s first youth leadership program, held over the next 6 months!
‘Inspire’ will be held on a Saturday or Sunday in Naarm/Melbourne, once per month. On this day, you will be attending a cultural event or LGBTQI+ program, and exploring what it means to engage with and participate actively in social spaces as a TGD person.
The program culminates in a 3 day camp where participants will reflect on how they’ve grown into their power and workshop their goals and plans for the future.
We are looking for 20 young people aged 15-20 who are interested in being inspiring leaders for their peers. This program is open for participants across the state, and all event tickets, catering, transport, and costs of camp are covered. You are welcome to attend with a family member or carer, and some sessions will actively engage with these people as TGD youth champions.
