Survey on the vocal satisfaction of transgender men and transmasculine individuals

Sidney Wong, a Master of Linguistics student at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand is interested in gendered speech.

This study is regarding the vocal satisfaction of transgender men / trans men, transmasculine people, masculine of centre, tangata ira tane, AFAB (assigned female at birth) trans people, male-to-male, and female-to-male transgender individuals’ speech.

“We know little about the voice in these populations and as a result your vocal health needs may not be adequately met. Your involvement will contribute to speech and language practitioners’ understanding of your vocal health and needs, and shaping medical discourse and practice.”

Your involvement in this project will consist of filling out a survey, and then optionally recording your voice.

Participants will enter a draw to win a US$35.00 Amazon voucher. Participants who record their voice can double their chances to win. Your contribution should take no longer than fifteen minutes.
