We are excited to announce two new peer networks for trans and gender diverse young people and their parents/guardians in Perth!

Freedom Centre and the Trans Pathways Research Team (which is made up of representatives from Telethon Kids Institute, The University of WA, Curtin University, YouthLink and Freedom Centre) are being funded by the WA Mental Health Commission’s Suicide Prevention Peer Support and Mentoring Grants are looking to develop two new peer buddy support programs in Perth for the following:

  1. TRANS BUDDY NETWORK: For trans and gender diverse young people (14-26 years) to connect with other trans and gender diverse young people with similar experiences and interests (Trans Buddy Network Flyer).
  1. PARENT TRANS BUDDY NETWORK: For parents/guardians of trans and gender diverse young people (under 26) to connect with other parents/guardians (Trans Parents Buddy Network Flyer).

They are seeking expressions of interest from trans and gender diverse young people as well as parents/guardians of trans and gender diverse young people to participate in this new short-term project that will be evaluated by the Trans Pathways team to assess its usefulness.
