NAT: LGBTIQA+ Lived Experience Network Information Sessions

Switchboard’s suicide prevention team are bringing you these information sessions about LGBTIQA+ lived experiences of suicide network to invite you to become involved and help them change the futures of LGBTIQA+ people across Australia.

Lived experience networks are vital, life changing and drive change, yet LGBTIQA+ people are unrepresented, excluded and remain invisible in the fast-growing movement that is transforming suicide prevention across Australia. Switchboard’s suicide prevention team are working to change this, your voice is powerful and they want you to be involved.

This information session is designed to help you decide whether you would like to be part of a LGBTIQA+ lived experience network and learn more about the suicide prevention work at Switchboard.

What to expect:

  • An overview of suicide prevention at Switchboard
  • Meet the team
  • What do we mean by lived experience?
  • Hear from a LGBTIQA+ person about why they believe in contributing their lived experience
  • Learn about the different ways you can be involved in our network
  • Q and A (via chat function)

Who should attend:

  • This information session is for LGBTIQASB+ people. This event is for our communities and not a space for allies to attend. We do, however, invite you to bring along a support person and even if they do not identify as LGBTIQASB+, we welcome them into our space.
  • You are someone with a lived experience of suicide. We think of lived experiences of suicide as having experiences of any of the following: thoughts of suicide, suicidal behaviour, cared for someone else through suicidal distress or been bereaved through suicide.
  • This event and our network is open to LGBTIQASB+ living anywhere in Australia.
