Equal the Contest premiered at the Castlemaine Documentary Festival earlier this month. The film follows the Mount Alexander Falcons football club, a new community AFL club created in 2021 by and for women and gender-diverse people. It also follows the journey the film’s director, Mitch Nevalis, learning to play football at 42 years of age as an inexperienced, non-binary person.
