The Mental Health Complaints Commissioner (MHCC) has released a new resource for LGBTI communities on the mental health principles and making a complaint. Their information sheet explains how to make a complaint about an experience with a service, which can include an experience of homophobia, biphobia or transphobia.
The MHCC is an independent, specialist complaints organisation created by the Mental Health Act 2014 to help resolve complaints about Victorian public mental health services and to recommend improvements. They work with consumers, families, carers and services to resolve complaints in ways that uphold consumer rights and support recovery. The MHCC provides all Victorians, including people who identify as LGBTI, with information about their right to make a complaint, as well as the processes they can follow and the supporting role of the MHCC.
